Advocacy & Policy Engagement

Carrying grassroots voices into national and international policy rooms, from UNFCCC climate negotiations to the Arms Trade Treaty.

Sewuese Asa representing grassroots voices at an international forum

SWEDIWorld carries grassroots perspectives into the rooms where policy is written, using storytelling to make sure the lived realities of women and girls are heard in international negotiations.

That work has included participation in the Gender Action Plan process at Bonn, Climate Week in Addis Ababa, and contributions to the Paris Committee on Capacity-building under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. We have also engaged with the Arms Trade Treaty process, pressing for a gender lens in arms control — because unregulated arms trafficking falls hardest on women and children in conflict zones.

Nationally, we work alongside the National Council on Climate Change, the Budget Office of the Federation and the Federal Ministry of Environment.
